The Pearl is the scale most specialty cafés ended up buying, and then kept buying. Acaia's 2021 revision rebuilt the internals rather than restyling the shell: faster response, a genuinely readable display, USB-C charging, and a real-time flow-rate indicator that tells you something no other scale on your bench does.

Why the flow rate matters

Most scales tell you how much water you've poured. The Pearl tells you how fast. A live flow-rate readout means you can hold a steady 3g/s through the bloom, spot the moment you're pouring too aggressively and churning the bed, and repeat the same pour tomorrow. It turns "that brew was good" into "that brew was good and here's exactly what I did."

Fast enough to keep up with you

Weight updates land in around 20 milliseconds, with startup and response roughly 40% quicker than the previous Pearl. On an espresso shot that's the difference between stopping at 36g and stopping at 39g. The LED display was brightened for the 2021 model too — readable on a sunlit worktop, not just under kitchen spots.

Six modes, no menu-diving

Weighing, dual-display timer, auto-tare, auto-start (the timer begins the second your first drops land), espresso, and beverage. Pair over Bluetooth to Acaia's Brewmaster or Brewguide apps to log recipes, follow guided pours, and keep the firmware current.

Built to be lived with

2kg capacity, so a full server or a loaded dripper is no problem. 30–40 hours per charge over USB-C — brew a cup a day and you'll charge it every couple of months. The included silicone heat-resistant pad protects the top plate from a hot V60 and stops your kit sliding about. Modular construction means it can be serviced rather than binned.
